Interior Design Trends For 2020 From Milan Design Week 2019

What is a trend? Why every year design experts write interior trend reports like this one after Milan Design Week is over? Seeing blog posts with titles like which trend is IN and which one is OUT is just ridiculous. We cannot set a starting date of a particular trend like, “Hey, this year marble is out so you may throw your table away” or “velvet is a huge trend in 2019”. Wait, wasn’t velvet dominant in 2017 or 2018? However, what is exciting about trend-seeking, is that we can observe how materials, colors, and textures will cohabitate with humans during the years to come as well as adapting it to our needs.

The 10 Best Interior Design Websites

Like all ten best lists this one is purely “IMAO” (In My Arrogant Opinion). These are sites that, for me, capture the moment, extract the best from the physical world of interior design, and convert it in inspiration.

What exactly does being a fashion designer entail?

So without further ado, in reverse order for greater dramatic effect, here they are:

10. This Ain’t No Disco (it’s where we work).

The world’s funkiest workspaces, beautifully photographed.

9. Wallpaper

The sumptuous magazine converts chicly to the web. The internet format allows the incorporation of rich media. Even their video skin is annoyingly cool.

8. Dezeen

With a simple mission to “bring you news of great projects before anyone else”, they generally do. The site is cleanly designed and the photographs sagely selected.

7. Apartment Therapy

With a tag line like “saving the world, one room at a time”, you can guess that apartment therapy is more oriented

A day in the life of a luxury interior designer for millionaires

Cheryl Eisen is unapologetically not a morning person.

In sharp contrast to the many executives who wake up at 4:00 or 5:00 a.m, Eisen starts her day slowly, waking up at 9 a.m. and enjoying a “caffeine cocktail” of Poland Spring water, espresso, Truvia, and Lactaid milk.

In all honesty, it takes until noon for my brain to fully wake up,” she told Business Insider.

Eisen, 50, is the CEO of Interior Marketing Group, or IMG, a New York City-based company of nearly 80 employees that does interior design, staging, and marketing for luxury homes that start at $5 million. Eisen has done the interior design for apartments in buildings belonging to Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, an Airbnb rented by Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West, and homes for Bethenny Frankel, Swedish real estate broker Fredrik Eklund, and Chrissy Teigen and John Legend. IMG also does projects in

Decorating 101 – Interior Design Basics

If you weren’t born with the ability to imagine a room complete with furniture placement, wall hangings, and rug and accent choices, it is something you can develop and hone over time. Learn the basics of home decorating, including design principles, decorating styles, and answers to decorating challenges.

Interior Design Compared With Interior Decorating

Interior design and interior decorating are often mistaken for the same thing, but the terms are not completely interchangeable. Interior design is a profession that requires specific schooling and formal training, including space planning, furniture design, and architecture. An interior decorator does not have that formal training and focuses on the aesthetics and the surface appearance of a space. Who you would hire depends on whether you have any structural work or space planning to be done or you need someone to plan the decor only.

Balance is another principle—distributing the visual weight
